This high intensity two day event focuses on deploying, integrating, and using Google Apps for Education and other Google Tools to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education. Using Assessment to Drive Instruction

Spreadsheets in Google Apps are an astounding tool for collecting and organizing assessment data. They allow anecdotal notes to be shared easily between teachers who work with the same students. Presenting the World: Using Google's Mapping Resources

Short description for catalog (30 words): Google Earth and Maps are about more than geography. Both include tools for you and your students to present history, literature, science, art and more in unique and interesting ways.

Longer description for website (200 words): Although many teachers use Google Earth and Maps to give students a better look at their world, you may not know that those resources also include tools that make them a great alternative to the common PowerPoint presentation, both for teachers and students.

In this fast-paced session, we'll demonstrate how to create a simple presentation with markers that include text, web links, images, audio and video recordings, and other media (and that works well with your interactive whiteboard). We'll also discuss how Earth and Maps could be used by students to build projects to demonstrate their learning in many academic areas. Those projects and presentations, as well as yours, can then be easily shared through Blackboard, email, and other methods of digital distribution. We'll also show where to find hundreds of presentations created by teachers and students that you can download and use the first day of school.

All of the resources used in this session, and many more to explore following the Institute, will be available on the web.
